Fancy Dinner Night

I prepared a meal for my family last week that was probably the "fanciest" I have ever prepared. I usually keep it very simple and hardly ever use seasoning of flavors. But this day was different! It all started with a trip to Publix and the lady preparing a meal at the Apron's booth. It was a ribeye with asparagus and the most delicious sauce I have ever tasted! I knew right then that was what I was going to prepare for dinner. The lady showed me what was in the sauce and I was blown away that it was only 3 items! 1. 1 (4-oz) package whipped lemon yogurt 2. 2 tablespoons lemon herb finishing butter 3. 1 tablespoon fresh tarragon (finely chopped) then WOW!!!

It is delicious! Did I say it was delicious yet, if I didn't, it was delicious! ;o)
I opted out of the ribeye and decided on shrimp, only b/c we had some in the freezer. Next time I make this it will be with the ribeye for sure!

Then I started cooking my mushrooms and asparagus in extra virgin olive oil.
Mushrooms are really for me. I am the only one in the house that likes them.
LOVE sauteed mushrooms, yummy!

The next side item I prepared was quinoa with latin twist! It was absolutely GREAT!!! I actually had seconds on this side! I loved the lime flavor with the scallions.
I got this recipe from Eating Well.

It was all in all a wonderful meal. Now I do have to warn you that my kids only enjoyed the shrimp. They ate everything else but it was with the worst faces ever. If you saw them, you would think I was feeding them poo poo. As adults, we gave it two thumbs up!

I just love having smart friends, don't you!

I got this cutting board for Christmas and loved it, just could not wait to try it out! I pulled the huge sticker label off the board area and all of the sticky from the sticker was left on the board! YUCK!

So I tried everything to get it off, scrubber, bleach, nail polish remover, then put it in the dishwasher to wash and steam it. Nothing got the sticky off~ I was on the verge of just tossing it and calling it a loss when my wonderful smart friend said use peanut butter.

Then I got my peanut butter and a little elbow grease since the label was as big as the board, and it is now clean as a whistle!!!!!! Thanks to my smart friend! Could not have done it without you!

Family Rules Ladder

Just wanted to share something I made recently. The ladder I have had for a while, sitting in Michael's shop driving him crazy. I finally figure out what I wanted to do with it!

I don't have a before picture just because I completely forgot to take the picture. It was just an ugly faded wood ladder with a bunch of paint splashes all over it. I first painted a coat of blue, then black then the red. Sanded areas to ruff it up some and see the colors come through. Then got 5 cheap frames from Michaels (I think they were all gold when I bought them),
painted them black.

I then found Perfect Sentiment and it all came together! Love this lady! She is also on etsy! I feel in love with the family rules with a bible verse for each!!!! This is great for the kids but also for myself to reference throughout the day and have a place to go to in the bible to know what to pray for. It's great!

Then all of this lead to this! A way for me to organize and everyone in the house to know when and what we are eating for dinner! It's worked out GREAT!

I just purchased a cheap frame from Michael's and painted it black (it started off gold also), printed the menu and put it in the frame! That's all!

BTW don't judge the yellow walls and blue counter tops! They are a work in progress to be changed soon! YUCK I know!

Just want to say thank you for inspiring me Kristy to clean and organize my pantry! Also thanks for the Container Store for having such cool stuff to choose from!!! (Love that place, really think I could visit it once a week if if wasn't so far away.)

I called a friend early this morning and asked if she would be interested in a trip to The Container Store. (Really I was trying to avoid doing laundry today.) Her response "Oooooooh! Dangerous! Sure!!!" After I stopped laughing, I got dressed and ready for our trip! Does my excitement show I don't get out much.

Check out what I got! I had two helpers with the pantry. They were great giving me cans and bags, cereal, pretty much anything they could get their little fingers on.

Check out how neat my pantry is! I don't think it has ever looked like this, but it does now! I got a can organizer at the bottom and some clear organizers (LOVE THESE, need them everywhere in my house)

Here is a close up of the can organizer. I have to say I was very skeptical of the can organizer because the sample in the store just looked like it didn't work right. After I put mine together, I realized they put theirs together upside down and backwards. Which I think could be done very easily especially if you aren't paying attention to the directions carefully. But I totally love it!!!! Look how much I can fit in that one area!

Here is a close up of the clear organizers! I am really going to get more of these in the future. I can picture them in every part of my house! Just have to wait for more allowance to come in!

I also got these boxes for the kids lunch. Trying to go green and stop using all the sandwich bags. We will see how they work out. I think they might be a little challenging for Jacob to open but will get easier when he gets a little bit older.

Lastly I got this little containers for extra snacks for the kids or for myself to use as I travel about. I think they will be great for my Sunday morning church cheerios! You have to look beyond Jacob's big ol'e tongue to the green, pink, and blue containers he is holding.

Smallest dress I've ever made....

I made these little pillowcase dresses for the girl's dolls. They really loved them, so much that I said, "Let's get a picture with you and your doll's new dress outside." "Yeah, great idea!!!" was the answer. Can you feel the excitement from this picture, if you can't just look at my oldest' face! She is just overflowing with joy! (Can you feel the sarcasm now?)
Ashley and Jacob were excited to be in the photo. (Yeah Jac's wearing underwear, we are giving the potty training another shot.)

Oh yeah almost forgot to tell you the dolls are waving hello in the last photo. :)

Baby Gift

I created this blanket for a friend. The kids and I were outside yesterday. Jacob was doing his own thing by digging in the dirt of course. The girls and I were taking a few photos. They are such good models for me! I made these adorable flower clips for them and myself to use on those special occasions. I think they turned out so beautiful and they are a nice change from bows all the time. The girls loved them, said they felt pretty like a ballerina. Not sure what a flower has to do with a ballerina but hey I went with it while I snapped the shots.

I think I will do a girls craft night soon and show you all how to make several flowers for your little "ballerinas" and for yourself! Let me know if you might be interested in coming!

I took this photo last fall for a family generation of girls. These two ladies are sisters and I just love this photo. Actually my daughter asked me about these two while I was editing and I will never forget what she asked, "Will we (her and her sister) be sisters forever or just for a little while?" Nope, sisters are FOREVER sweetheart!

Kids Category

This photo was taken this spring. I love to photograph little girls in their tutu's! I think it is just so cute. This little one took off running, but turned around just to see if we were watching, and she had her tongue out! It was too cute!

It's been a while since my last posting, sorry, but I think this one picture says it all what I have been up to.

Yep you guessed it, potty training!

Someone please tell me why I actually thought my last kid would be easy! AAAAAAAAAAA He is anything but easy with this last "baby" hurdle. If we can get past this then we will be to the point of no more bag needed when we go somewhere! How great is that feeling when you reach that point. Seemed like every time I got to that point I was pregnant again. This will really put me in the "grown up" kids category after we get this conquered. I can hardly wait, maybe that is why I am pushing so hard for this and he is pushing back so hard!

Last weekend I took one year pictures of my friends daughter (I can't believe it has been a year), I also made her an adorable pillowcase dress for her birthday (yes it was about a month late, but hey better late then never!). While we were taking pictures, we had her try on the dress and snap a few shots of her in it. She is tooooooo stinking cute!!!! And those blue eyes are to die for!

Anywhoo, the dress and my friends daughter was featured on the blog of the dress designer, Frog Legs and Ponytails. Isn't that the cutest name!!!! LOVE IT! You should check out her blog today! If you are interested in purchasing the pattern, just head over to her etsy shop and get it!

....making a rag quilt! These are so fun to make! I love matching up the fabrics to design a unique rainbow of colors and styles. I made the two loveys, which are a smaller size for travel or just to snuggle with. They measure about 15"x15". The other is more of a crib size quilt. I made the last one for a friends baby gift. It measures 24"x 25".

I am going to list the 2 loveys in Etsy if you are interested.

What a family!

I had the honor of photographing 3 generations for a family. It was a very smooth and rather fast session even with the number of people we had.

This first photo is where it all started, when they fell in love!

Here is the whole family. What a great bunch to work with! Check out how great they coordinated together! Everything flows but you can see each family! Great choice!

Ashley's new do!

Mother's Day weekend we all went home to South GA to visit the family. While we were at the Mall, Rachel said she wanted to get her hair cut. She has been asking me for a while to cut it, so I finally decided we would go for it since we didn't have Jacob it would be the perfect opportunity. Rachel got a simple bob just at the chin. Cute Cute Cute on her!!!

Ashley of course wanted hers cut as well, gotta do everything the older sister does! Ashley got about the same but I asked the lady to stack Ashley's in the back. Well she got a whack job on her hair. It was terrible, like the lady used a weed whacker on Ashley. Once we got home I took Ashley to my stylist to fix her hair. She did a GREAT job as usual! I love Ashley's hair, it is very inspiring!

I don't know what she is doing in this photo but I thought it was such a funny face and kind of scary also!

Aaaaaa that is so much better. That is the Ashley smile I know and love!

Miracle Moment

Can you believe the picture below!?!?!? BOTH, yes I said BOTH girls, fell asleep on the couch this past Saturday. We had a long Friday night at the church and then the girls and I went to a birthday party at one of those run, jump, run, and jump some more play places. Once we got home they were pretty beat but would never admit it. Michael told them to sit with him on the couch and just relax for a little while. After about 20 minutes both girls fell asleep. Ashley I wasn't too surprised about, hence my posting on her last week falling asleep in her closet. She falls asleep so often just watching SpongeBob while I cook dinner, but Rachel, well that is another story! She actually feel asleep first, even more amazing! I don't know if it was the birthday party or Michael making them sit on the coach and watch golf with him, but whichever it was praise the Lord for both!!!! I did my happy dance and gave my praise and thanks to the Lord above for complete silence!

PS Check out the sweat on Rachel's head. YUCK!!! That girls sweats like a boy! :)
And Ashley's hair is dry as a bone!

Field Day Whoo!

Oh I use to LOVE this day at school, the sweat, the competition, the ribbons, the FUN!!!! Rachel had her Field Day last week. She was the green team. She had a blast, even despite the rain. There are times when she hates the camera and other times when she loves it. She was definitely LOVING it this time. Posing all by herself, even giving me an action shot of her running!

This was a rescheduled session. About an hour before the session was to begin, it started to sprinkle. I was wondering if this session was actually ever going to happen. After chatting with the mom, we decided to stick it out and try to get the shots. I think that decision was a good one and paid off!
It actually seemed like it stopped while we did our shoot for an hour, must have been that praying to God I was doing to hold off the rain for just a bit, PLEASE GOD!!!! :) He is so good! The youngest was great for the first half, but quickly lost attention and soon we lost her toward the end of the shoot.

I told her there was a monkey in my lens and she had to look really hard to see him jumping around. Check out the intense look on her face searching for that monkey. Too funny!

Oh what we will do as parents to get our child's attention. :)

Crazy Hair Day!

Rachel had crazy hair day to help raise money for a needy child at school. She brought in her $1 to wear her hair crazy. Well this is what we came up with when she left for school. Yikes, pretty crazy I would say. She actually wore it like this all day. How would I know, because this is what she looked like when she got of the bus in the afternoon! HAHAHA

Ashley has such a hard time keeping up with the family or maybe I should say Rachel. I think we all have a hard time keeping up with Rachel's energy. I found Ashley asleep in her closet about 5 in the afternoon, well, Jacob actually found her.

We headed south for Mother's Day this year. And it was warm down there! While Jacob was napping one day, Rachel and Ashley wanted to cool off with their new swimsuits and new haircuts!

Little sisters

These two little girls are just ADORABLE!!!! They were a joy to photograph, so easy! They did all their own poses all on their own. It was too cute! All I did was say look at the camera and they would switch into model mode! Took all I could from laughing at these little cuties!

I got so many great shots that I could hardly pick 5 favs for the blog, so I choose 8 this time. Oops!

Spring Family Fun

I think we finished in about 40 minutes!
The weather was PERFECT, maybe a little chilly, but bearable. Maybe that is why we finished early, hum.....

This one is my favorite! I am a huge fan of color, but I love how dramatic this shot looks in black and white. Maybe its her little tongue hanging out while she was running who knows, but
I LOVE IT.

Fun at lunch!

Ashley and Jacob decided to have a hot dog for lunch Wednesday afternoon. As I was getting something out of the frig, Jacob noticed the olives and started begging, "som pease, som pease, som pease." Since he asked so sweetly, I said SURE! I had to suck the peminto out of each olive for both kiddos so they could stick them on their fingers. It was quite a funny event for all of us.

Ashley, Jacob, and I tried out a new "toy" of mommy's. I was thinking of making these for the next snack day. They are rice crispy lollipops! How cute and fun are these! I got the "toy," which was a pan at Michael's. You can make it with either your favorite cookie recipe or rice crispy recipe to make lollipops. I used rice crispy recipe but used strawberry marshmallows, which gave it a little different yummy flavor. We all loved them! Only thing was that the crispy treat was a little too soft to really stay on the stick. I might need to do some more mushing around the stick to make it stronger, but they kept falling off while we were eating.

Next time we are going to add some peanut butter to our regular recipe. I think that will be YUUUUUUUMMY!

Decisions, decisions, decisions!

There are times when I LOVE color in a picture, just makes the photo feel very rich and like a piece of artwork. Then there are other times when I LOVE black and white photos. B/W makes photos feel very traditional and like timeless classics that will make the moment last forever.

The kids were playing with daddy again this evening and I snapped a few shots. I can't decided which I like better the color or B/W. They really look great in both settings.
(And yes, poor Jacob is wearing a pink helmet, borrowed from his sister of course.)
Maybe I should go with the B/W. :)

Playing with Daddy

Ooooo it's been too long since a post! Friday afternoon, we were all having fun being outside with Daddy! The weather was quite pleasant, no need for a jacket. Kids had lots of fun making dirt pies and leaf piles to jump in. When Daddy finished cleaning up the shop, each kiddo, including me, got to take ride on the 4-wheeler. Wahoooooooo! It's was exciting!

Notice anything different about the pictures? You got it! lb photography has a new image! Thanks to Peahead Prints! She was wonderful to work with and put up with my wants and changes perfectly! Thanks you, thank you, thank you!

Portrait Party Special!!!

The kids and I have been singing this for days now! We want to go out and play!

Mommy and Son day!

Jacob and I had a fun day while the girls were at Meme and Papas. We went to Old Mill Park in Rowell. It was beautiful! Great spot for pictures if anyone is interested! I let Jacob be a real boy. We climbed down to the creek and he digged in the dirt, threw rocks in the creek. He found this purple bunny sidewalk chalk, so he was coloring on the rocks. We also went to Bulloch Hall in Roswell. Another BEAUTIFUL spot for photos!

After all that we had a great day together. Thanks Jacob for being such a good sport!

My great friend, Emily, had a request for me. I have not made one of these tee dresses in a while! She told me what fabric she wanted and I went from there!

I must say this dress turned out really cute!!!! I think it is mix of the red, green, pink dots from Michael Miller and the fact that it is a size 6 month! I really have forgotten how small babies are! I think I may have to make more of these!

Any requests, just ask me and I can give you a quote!!!!! I think these dresses will be great for spring as well with short sleeve tees!

These two sisters families were joined because of marriage. It was amazing the harmony that flowed from both sides. The little girl's, I would bet they were twin sisters. Na, cousins and they were the cutest little girls ever!

It was the perfect fall day on Saturday, not too cool and beautiful fall colors everywhere! This family has so much love for each other and it just shows a lot through these pictures! I hope you enjoy them as much as I did shooting them!

It's that time of year again!

Yep it is that time of year again, CHRISTMAS!!!! I got my fabric in today and just LOVE it! I think I have a small fetish for fabric, very small though. :) I have many ideas running around in my head. I hope to get them all organized by the end of next week, then made by the end of the following week. We shall see if I can stay on schedule!

Maybe I should just say before the end of the month.

Generations!

I had the privilege of shooting a family's generation photos on Sat. I felt very honored to be a part of these photos. The little one took a while to warm up to me. The mother said she was so excited to come to get her pictures taken, but was extremely shy when I popped my camera in her face. What on earth could make a little child feel that way with someone you don't know all in your "grill." :) jk
These 2 beautiful ladies are sisters. All I could think about was something my daughter asked me recently, "Will we be sisters forever or just for a little while?" Nope, sisters are FOREVER sweetheart!

This is when mom was warming her up. It worked like a charm. Mommy's really know what they are doing!

This little cutie was not liking me too much either. Mom or grandma would walk around with her and she would be so happy, but as soon as I came around with the camera in her face... she just wasnt having it! :) So I got a few shots when she wasn't paying attention to me!

She always kept an eye on me!

Sunflower Days

I finally got pictures of Ashley in my other fall dress style. It took me longer to get the pictures taken then to make the dress this time!

With this dress set I teamed up with my mom. She crocheted the super cute sunflower hat! Doesn't it all look so cute together! It was a perfect match!

As far as the dress goes, I used more fabric from Sandi Henderson's Farmer's Market! The colors are so rich in the whole collection. It is really hard to resist buying more fabric from her! The dress and hat are for sale in my etsy shop. They are posted as a group buy, but if you are interested in one or the other, just ask me! My mom has been making many more styles and colors. If you want something specific, I am sure she can make you something to coordinate with your outfit! (I am speaking for her, like she does for me so often. I think that is what happens when you think so much alike!)

It was early and we traveled down a LARGE hill to get to this fence, but I do believe it was worth the hike (or what felt like a hike to my body.)
